Noble Thomas Dinse (1945-2025) taught at California State University, Stanislaus, Department of Theatre for 37 years, from 1970-2007. He created the set designs for numerous department productions. He and his wife, Sandra, also founded Playhouse Merced in 1994 (originally the Merced Center for the Performing Arts), and he also designed sets and backdrops for productions at Sierra Repertory Theatre in Sonora and Columbia, as well as Sacramento’s Music Circus.

This collection comprises original set designs, scale models, and posters for numerous plays and musicals. Professor Dinse worked across many theatres located in the Central Valley and Northern California in addition to his teaching and designs for the California State University Theatre Department.  The collection reflects his work across these many theatres and venues.
